Line-Hop

This app start-up was brought to me by a few NYU classmates. The basic premise is an app that allows you to skip lines for food and drink vendors at sporting events and concerts by ordering the food through your phone, and removing the need to take out a credit card.  They needed Branding and User Interface Prototypes to get their idea kickstarted.

User Interface Design

For the design of Line-Hops User Interface, I had the challenge of keeping the same principle of a variable color scheme. For this reason I started with sketches on paper, then designed the interface in a greyscale. This helped with the early decision of where to pull the user before making High Fidelity Prototypes. After doing some research on how venders at sports events and concert venues function and getting feedback on my sketches from friends and teammates, I decided to make large pictures of the food that can be scrolled through so the user can do their own version of window shopping. This design decision received a lot of positive feedback from both the team and the friends I tested it on.

After making this design the final High-Fidelity prototyping phase was a lot simpler. All I had left to do was pick schemes that tested well on top of my greyscale. Below you can see two different renders of my interface, one being for a blue team, and the other for a red one.

This project taught me the importance of gradual prototyping and iterative testing, so as not to get ahead of yourself in the initial phases.

Logo Design

For the design of Line-Hops logo, I had to keep in mind that there was a large chance the start-up would plan to release a different app for each sports organization or team it had business with, at least at first. Therefore I wanted to create a logo that was both simple, modifiable, but iconic. After relearning several facets of flat design, I created the white and orange logo you see in the bottom center. After getting feedback from the team and what they wanted, I created several mockups for teams with two or three colors to show the versatility of the logo.
